Organic acids and derivatives

N,N-Dimethylacetamide is used as a polar solvent in organic synthesis as well as in reactions involving strong bases such as sodium hydroxide. It is also used as a solvent for fibers like polyacrylonitrile, spandex, as an excipient in drugs viz. vumon, busulfex and in the adhesive industry.

N,N-Dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal is used as an intermediate in the formation of pyridine derivatives, which exhibits inhibition against PI3 kinase p110alfa enzymes. It is utilized for the derivatization of primary sulfonamides and trifluoroacetic acid.

Rubidium acetate has been reported to modify the acid/base character of the catalyst supports like silica, alumina, and titania. It can be used in the preparation of nanosized rubidium ferrite, and as a promoter on the palladium-catalyzed synthesis of vinyl acetate in heterogeneous gas reaction.
